By providing direct financial and technical support, we help strengthen governance, protect critical ecosystems, and advance global climate and biodiversity goals.

Description:

Purpose of role

The Manager of Institutional Partnerships will play a critical role in expanding and strengthening Tenure Facility’s relationships with bilateral, multilateral, and foundation donors. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of institutional donors and prospects, identifying new funding opportunities, and ensuring high-quality stewardship and engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic relationship-builder with a strong understanding of international development, climate finance, and Indigenous rights, as well as experience securing and managing complex grants from institutional funders.

Key responsibilities

The job holder will have the following key responsibilities:

Institutional fundraising and portfolio growth:

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of bilateral and foundation donors, ensuring strong engagement and long-term partnerships.
  • Identify, research, and qualify new institutional funding opportunities that align with Tenure Facility’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Lead proposal development, working closely with the Development, Program, and Finance teams to craft compelling funding requests.
  • Cultivate and steward donor relationships through regular communication, briefings, and tailored engagement strategies.

Grant and relationship management

  • Oversee grant reporting and compliance, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions that demonstrate impact and alignment with donor priorities.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Program teams to monitor grant deliverables, track funding pipelines, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, funding opportunities, and proposal progress in the donor database.

Strategic engagement and representation

  • Represent Tenure Facility in donor meetings, conferences, and high-level convenings, strengthening visibility and positioning within key funding communities.
  • Support the Chief Development Officer and Executive Director in executing donor engagement strategies, including thought leadership and advocacy efforts tied to institutional funding.
  • Track and analyze trends in climate finance, Indigenous rights funding, and land tenure investments to inform fundraising strategies.
Requirements:

The following offers an aspirational view of our ideal candidate profile; however, we encourage applications from candidates with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented groups.

Qualifications and experience

  • 10+ years of experience in institutional fundraising, donor relations, or partnership management, preferably in the nonprofit or international development sector.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing grants from bilateral, multilateral, or foundation donors.
  • Strong understanding of international development funding landscapes, including climate, conservation, human rights, and Indigenous-led initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting high-impact proposals and donor communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
  • Experience working with CRM and donor management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.

Preferred Qualifications
