Description:

This is a new position to support the European team with all regulatory, fiscal, and governance compliance for the Europe Region. This role is responsible for maintaining an annual calendar of local compliance requirements and supports the Head of Operations, Europe, and Senior Director of Finance in providing correct documentation for the many compliance requirements. The Manager, Europe Region Legal and Compliance will work on maintaining communication with the competent authorities and relevant colleagues globally.

EDFE is comprised of two legal entities: a UK-based Charity and a Dutch Foundation (Stichting), and also includes a Belgian branch of the Stichting. These entities function in a close relationship with the US-based EDF Inc., which is the original founding entity of the organization. This role will be the main reference for all Europe Region team members for documentation related to compliance. 

Primary responsibilities

  • Supporting the maintenance of the official governance records by advancing and maintaining best practices for document and information management processes and systems (e.g., securing, cataloguing, and organizing corporate documents, board resolutions, meeting minutes, financial and regulatory records, etc., for all EDF Europe operations). 
  • Supporting the Head of Operations, Europe to ensure correct maintenance of records at the various Europe Region entities, including;
    • Managing signature processes for board meetings in the Netherlands and the UK.
    • Supporting the provision of correct documentation for annual fiscal compliance processes.
  • Supporting the EDFE enterprise team to ensure fiscal, social, legal, and local authority compliance in all countries where EDF has a presence in Europe. 
  • Support the maintenance and progress of the legal and compliance elements of the EDFE Risk Register
  • Updating and managing the local compliance calendar to ensure critical financial, governance, and other filings and reporting deadlines are met.
  • Monitor and address communication received via the Europe Compliance email address
  • Additional relevant responsibilities as assigned, for example, provide support to the Executive Director of the Europe Region on incoming local legal compliance requirements.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years’ experience in governance, legal, or compliance operations, or similar relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • English is essential, with a second language preferable, Dutch strongly preferred.
  • Strong sense of collaboration, working with various members of the Europe Region team.
  • Strong executive skills, undeterred by complex requirements or documentation.
  • Solutions-oriented with the ability to assess and communicate requirements and effectively manage priorities and expectations.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, deadlines, and organization required.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency, and inclusivity, and the ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across all cultures and backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Non-profit experience preferred.
