Bellwethers was founded in February 2024 and is a fiscally sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. We have initially benefited from the support of great contractors and are ready now to build a more permanent team to serve our mission and purpose.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a versatile digital expert with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and executing a wide array of digital-first strategies across various platforms. Individuals with a background in public affairs, public relations, or marketing will be particularly well-suited for this position. Experience with topics aligned with climate change including investing in natural capital. ESG investment, energy transition or food systems is important.
In addition to overseeing a brochure website and simple digital channels for Bellwethers Group, the Head of Digital Communications & Reputation Management will be tasked with developing reputation and campaign strategies and when relevant, managing the selection and delivery of implementation agencies and contractors. A key aspect of this role involves collaborating closely with Bellwethers’ networks team to develop and, manage online reputation strategies.
As a member of the founding senior leadership team, the Head of Digital Communications & Reputation Management will play a vital role in shaping the organisation’s culture and operational approach. They will also contribute to guiding the long-term evolution of the organisation. The ideal candidate will be curious, collaborative, a quick learner, and an exceptional communicator, eager to take an active role in shifting narratives and norms to support the Bellwether leaders driving the transition to a green economy.
Primary responsibilities
- This role works collaboratively across our teams, including with the Executive Director, the Networks team and with external stakeholders to ensure all digital communications and reputation activities are mission aligned.
- Plan, implement, manage and monitor Bellwethers public facing website and members section.
- Create digital strategies to build narratives and/or online reputation strategies.
- Keep up to date with industry best practices and key trends, using this to advise the Executive Director, key external stakeholders and Board members on digital marketing and communications strategy and execution including online metrics, user experience, SEO, inbound marketing, and digital content strategy.
- Initiate and manage non-profit Google and social media campaign calendars and strategy.
- Ensure digital design relevancy, accuracy, and alignment with our brand identity.
- Oversee software developers and web design consultants and provide best practices in project management.
Experience
- At a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related discipline.
- Additional certificates (. in AI or with relevant software tools) is an advantage.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in marketing, public affairs or public relations roles.
- Demonstrated excellence in digital communications, including (not limited to) content development, inbound marketing, digital advertising, website development and design, user experience, SEO and online reputation management.
- Experience and strong proficiency with CRM, enterprise social tools, G Suite, Adobe or other creative tools, Google and social marketing and ad operations.
- Adept at setting and measuring digital activity to manage progress toward goals.
- Strong research and analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges and the ability to present regular reports to a wider audience.
- Experience in a start-up or a small team and a demonstrated ability to tackle multiple workstreams calmly is necessary.
- A background in climate change, investing in nature, sustainability or ESG is required.
- A good personal network of collaborators from previous roles is an advantage.

Bellwether team members work remotely and therefore candidates who apply for this role should be independently set up with a suitable environment for working. There will be a requirement for travel from time to time and the successful candidates will be asked to show an up to date travel document.
This role will be ideal for candidates based in UK, Europe or USA. Bellwethers is unable to offer support with work visas and can only engage with candidates with work authorisation for the country in which they are based.
