Human Practice Foundation (HPF) is searching for a Global Head of Fundraising to join the team and further establish the organisation in this market. The charity’s mission is to work sustainably and holistically to build schools and bring 1,000,000 children into a safe and empowering educational environment, with a focus in Nepal and Kenya.
You will be responsible for driving and strengthening the foundation's fundraising efforts across Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK as well as internationally. Your primary goal is to significantly increase fundraising through private donors, corporations, foundations, and institutional partners. You will be both the strategist and the executor, ensuring the fundraising strategy is implemented and delivering results.
The Global Head of Fundraising will prioritise continuing the growth of the charity’s funds and will work with our local country leads and existing network of trusts & foundations and philanthropic individuals, as well as continuing to spread HPF’s message.
If you are a proactive, creative person with an entrepreneurial mindset, a track record of building strong global relationships and networks, and an ability to work both strategically and operationally across country organisations, we would love to talk to you about the role. Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy, Development and Execution
Develop and implement a multi-year, global fundraising strategy for private donors, corporations, foundations, and institutional donors, to diversify and grow income streams in support of HPFs mission and its long-term goals, fiscal health, and organisation-wide priorities.
Work with Country Managers and other Senior Leadership to set and ensure the achievement of national and global fundraising goals with a focus on growth
Working collaboratively across HPF’s different countries, lead a change management process to bring greater alignment around our global funding, communications, and engagement work.
Lead on developing and cementing fundraising capabilities and capacity across the organisation, ensuring each country is following best fundraising practice while also promoting innovation and excellence in the fundraising approach.
Develop necessary processes, impact reporting and documentation to secure donations from major foundations.
Lead, manage and/or contribute towards key global initiatives and projects.
Donor Identification and Management
In close coordination with Copenhagen, London, Stockholm and Geneva, ensuring all global efforts complement and augment national efforts:
Identify, research, qualify and manage a pipeline of funding prospects.
Develop a range of funding proposals, pitches, appeals, and other fundraising materials to successfully solicit funds.
Design and implement a donor cultivation and stewardship programme, including a combination of events, proposals, reporting, communications and visits.
Manage your own portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivating relationships, conducting fundraising meetings, pitching requests for support and closing donation agreements to achieve your own income target.
Fundraising Administration
Provide direction and co-ordination to fundraising teams in Denmark, Sweden, and the UK.
Ensure the use and optimisation of Salesforce for lead and donor management.
Collaborate with the CFO and Head of Operations to ensure proper handling of donations and reporting.
Fundraising Communication
Oversee the HPF website and other communication with donors (including newsletters and social media activity) to strengthen donor relationships, retention, and uplift.
Network and represent HPF at the highest levels and at a wide range of events, working with existing and developing new contacts to secure vital introductions.
Candidate Profile:
Proven success in fundraising with the ability to close deals and a minimum of ten years of fund-raising experience.
Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach, highly organised and administrative competence.
Able to build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new potential donors.
A proactive doer with strong leadership qualities, thriving in a dynamic environment.
Passionate about taking the foundation's fundraising to the next level.
Effective team player with a track record of developing teams and people across multiple country locations
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Senior fundraising professional with proven leadership skills and at least ten years’ experience in an international not-for-profit organisation.
Strong track record of developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies, with the demonstrated ability to identify and deliver the necessary steps for ambitious income growth and diversification.
Strong track record and success in relationship-managing a portfolio of major donors, trusts & foundations, corporates and/or institutional funders, raising significant donations and grants at six and seven figure levels. References will be required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the gravitas to inspire, motivate and influence a wide range of external and internal stakeholders.
The ability to work collaboratively with Senior Management and peers at all levels, across multiple teams and geographies.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of delivering successful funding applications, proposals and pitches.
Self-starter, able to operate independently and under pressure, whilst also able to engage meaningfully in virtual team working with other senior colleagues.
A proactive networker, able to act as a spokesperson and ambassador for HPF at the highest levels.
Ability to work at both a strategic and operational levels.
Experience of working closely with and reporting to Boards of Trustees.
Entrepreneurial approach to donor-management and creating new fundraising initiatives.
Highest level of personal and professional integrity.
Ability to accommodate travel.
Desirable:
Strong affinity with HPF mission, values and approach.
Understanding of charity/fundraising legislation and codes of practice in one or more of HPF’s markets.
Understanding of good governance processes and the role of charity Boards.
Strong budget management and financial reporting skills, with experience of monitoring and reporting against targets.
Strong IT skills, including an understanding of CRM systems.
