Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Southern Africa
Fundraising Director
Background:

Doctors without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation committed to two objectives: providing medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion, natural and man-made disasters; and speaking out about the plight of the populations assisted. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Today, MSF is present in more than 60 countries, where thousands of MSF doctors, nurses, logisticians, water-and-sanitation experts, and other medical and non-medical professionals work together to bring essential health services to people caught in humanitarian crises.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) South Africa's fundraising department plays a crucial role in securing private funding to support the organization’s humanitarian mission. This department focuses primarily on generating funds from individual donors through mass marketing campaigns and personalized one-to-one engagement strategies. Additionally, the department cultivates financial support from corporates, trusts, foundations, and legacy giving. MSF South Africa's efforts are instrumental in sustaining its emergency medical and humanitarian activities across the Southern African region, which include responding to crises, providing essential healthcare services, and advocating for those in need. The organization has a strong presence in South Africa and neighbouring countries, contributing to various health initiatives, including HIV/AIDS treatment, tuberculosis care, and emergency response operations. The funds raised by the department enable MSF to deliver life-saving care and maintain its independence, neutrality, and impartiality in conflict zones, disaster areas, and regions with limited access to healthcare.
