Save the Elephants is a small but impactful research and conservation organisation based in Kenya. As an organisation STE aims to be agile, effective and evidence-based, achieving wide-scale results through collaboration.
Elephants are the largest existing land mammal on earth, and they are a keystone species playing an important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the ecosystems in which they live. As icons of the continent elephants are tourism magnets, attracting funding that helps protect wilderness areas. However, having roamed the wild for 15 million years, today, this iconic species faces the biggest threats to its survival due to ivory poaching, human-wildlife conflict, and habitat destruction.
