Location: DC or London
Salary: $/£ 50,000-65,000
Closing date: 29/09/2022 (day/month/year)
Associate, Climate and Agriculture Campaign
Mighty Earth, a global environmental advocacy organization, seeks an Associate to work on our campaign to protect forests in Latin America.
The industrial meat industry has been a major driver of deforestation in Latin America and across the world, including Brazil’s Cerrado savannah, resulting in the destruction of critical habitats and damaging effects on our climate, as well as human rights abuses, land-grabbing, and abuse of Indigenous communities. The meat industry consumes 80% of agricultural land and contributes to 15% of climate pollution. Destructive agricultural practices driven by irresponsible agricultural companies pour carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gasses into the air, making the problem even worse!
As Mighty Earth’s Associate, Climate and Agriculture, you will be a key part of our Global Protein campaign and working to protect Latin America’s forests. Our campaign currently focuses on leveraging the power of major international supermarkets and other key companies in the meat and soy supply chain to convince big agribusinesses like Cargill, Bunge, JBS, and Marfrig to adopt pro-forest, climate, environment and human rights policies. Through this work, you will defend critical ecosystems and habitats, help stop Indigenous and human rights abuses, and ensure these precious forests are protected, a critical factor in the fight against climate change.
