Right now we are looking for a Business Development Corporate Alliances Manager to make up our team, in Hilversum, Netherlands. We would like to hear from candidates with a proven track record in developing new partnerships. 

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Alliances, this position is responsible for developing new corporate contacts/new business leads and ultimately to secure donations, Gift in Kind and strateguc partnership  in support of Make-A-Wish International and our network of 39 affiliates. Under the direction of the Head of Corporate, the Corporate Alliances Manager will help craft and execute effective new business strategies to engage companies in new sponsorships in support of the Foundation. The Manager will have specific goals to develop new partnerships – numbers of meetings per week, number of proposals sent, amount of funds and in-kind resources secured, etc. They will also be responsible for a small number of partnerships. 

Job description

In collaboration with the MAWI Corporate Alliances team, the individual will communicate with the Make-A-Wish Affiliates to develop relationships, coordinate prospecting and identify unique funding opportunities around events and networking meetings. 

The Manager is supported with Make-A-Wish branded sales material and is responsible for driving the customization of such material for the regional and country markets, where appropriate. The Manager will have a clear sense of corporate citizenship and philanthropic trends and will help develop tools and programs to attract new funding. Once secured, the Manager will be responsible for some activation, implementation and feed into the renewal of the corporate programs. When required and as agreed, the post holder will be expected to act as a senior in the team, responsible for key projects and campaigns. 

  • To generate leads, prospects and opportunities to secure new integrated, high value, multi-year corporate partnerships. To achieve targets against agreed income. 

  • Establish relationships with each of the Make-A-Wish affiliates and executive networks within the region to coordinate sales activity and target list.

  • To identify, research and qualify new partnership opportunities, maintaining a solid pipeline of new business prospects. 

  • Where possible, to identify and create added value opportunities within new business leads, which leverage both financial and non-financial benefits for Make-A-Wish.

  • To work with operational colleagues and affiliates to identify suitable priority projects for funding.

  • Feed into the design and execution of a strategy to connect with corporate leads.

  • Secure and plan corporate meetings, ensuring the right people from Make-A-Wish and from the company are present.

  • Create proposals and drive the customization of sales materials for corporate sponsorship pitches.

  • Continuously stay engaged with the Make-A-Wish International team to understand the funding opportunities for corporate targets.

  • Develop familiarity and drive the adoption of best practices in corporate partnerships and programs.

  • Develops customized business plans for licensing, cause-related marketing, workplace giving and in-kind programs for international corporate clients

  • Analyzes current programs according to sales performance, revenue and in-kind resources generated, positive and widespread media exposure and benefits to client, in order to determine return on investment and future growth potential

  • Negotiates and renews contracts for licensing, cause-related marketing, workplace giving and in-kind programs with international corporate clients

Candidate requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 

  • Minimum 3 years sales and/or fundraising experience with proven results delivered

  • Significant experience of delivering and winning high level, multi-year pitches at high level income ($100,000 +)

  • Experience managing and developing strong donor/client relationships

  • Excellent relationship building skills, able to successfully engage and influence people at all levels from a multitude of disciplines

  • Highly developed ability to verbally present information about projects and fundraising pitches to a range of audiences in an inspiring and confident way

  • English-speaking required, multiple-languages a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking and presentation skills

  • Inventive, independent, outgoing and resilient

  • Computer skills with a working familiarity of Microsoft Office and database management software, preferably Salesforce

  • Able to handle multiple projects under pressure

  • Positive attitude and appreciation of the Make-A-Wish mission
