Job description

Effective operations for SVP Office

  • Chief of Staff for SVP - support in ensuring effective overall functioning of SVP led affairs and delivery of key GPP decision making forums, processes and accountabilities
  • Plans & Coordinates GPP Leadership engagement, including overall cadence and location of GPP ‘home weeks’

Support for GPP Strategic Vision

  • Supports the delivery, in support of SVP, of overall strategic vision, narrative and messaging for IRC’s private funding (in close working partnership with Senior Director Strategy & Planning)

Effective GPP Communications

  • Ensures effective championing and communication of GPP vision and strategy
  • Plans and supervises cross GPP and wider IRC communications outputs
  • Ensures effective sector wide positioning and IRC/GPP promotion at key events and forums

Staff Engagement and Development

  • Lead GPP delivery and planning on staff engagement
  • Lead GPP delivery and planning on staff development

Governance and wider IRC engagement

  • Plans and co-ordinates CEO & GPP Leadership Board engagement 
  • Ensures effective high level governance & decision making for GPP (including oversight of IEB)
  • Sets standards and ensures a high quality of written outputs from SVP office

Candidate requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with demonstrated high performance, in international relations, development or other relevant degree

Work Experience:

  •  At least 7-10 years in a strategic role, having worked closely with senior leaders.
  • In depth experience in non-profit fundraising and an understanding of the key drivers and context that drive international fundraising.
  • A proven understanding and experience in working in an international context across different time zones, markets and cultures.
  • Proven experience in planning and managing complex communications outputs.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • An advanced set of strategic planning and communication skills required.
  • Ability to not only drive strategic vision, but also follow through on its compelling communication (through formal and informal channels) to secure buy in from senior leaders & stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage persuasively and firmly with senior colleagues to elicit outputs & cooperation.
  • Experience in creating and facilitating executive-level routines
  • Strategic mindset and approach to solving problems and identifying creative solutions
  • Ability to see the “big picture” and prioritize appropriately by focusing on work that will deliver the highest impact to the organization
  • A results-driven approach to work, proven personal initiative, and an ability to work proactively and with a strong sense of urgency
  • A proven ability to rapidly absorb and master new content and terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to the highest standard, with an ability to flex written style according to the format required
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capability to manage multiple demands and to adapt to new challenges and shifting priorities
  • Understanding of the challenges related to implementing strategic and organizational change
  • A strong focus on personal growth and development, and a willingness to regularly receive and act on performance feedback in pursuit of continuous professional growth
