IRC's Global Partnerships and Philanthropy (GPP) department is responsible for the global delivery of the International Rescue Committee’s private sector resources (financially contributing circa USD200m per annum, as well as key partnerships and influence that support our mission), and plays an important strategic role in the creation of IRC’s brand, awareness and support for its advocacy goals.

The IRC's strategy centers on its ambition to continue to improve the scale and effectiveness of IRC programs worldwide with evidence of what works best to impact people’s lives in conflict and fragile settings. GPP comprises colleagues and teams delivering marketing, account management, leadership gifts, board liaison, corporate partnerships, brand stewardship and communications to support this work. These colleagues are primarily located in the USA at present – but IRC plans to significantly expand its global fundraising footprint. Other colleagues within IRC are also deeply engaged with private funding & partners – in particular within Europe, US Resettlement and field programs – and we need to work in close integrated collaboration to ensure best use of resources and highest impact for IRC.

GPP has begun delivering a new radical and ambitious 2020 Private Sector Engagement strategy that will enhance IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in income, partnership and awareness. At the same time – believing that the root of our success lies in a high performance team and culture - we need to build our internal infrastructure, ensure we build a strong global team, a dynamic culture, a forward thinking ethos, and establish 21st century analytics, reporting, operational and business management practices that will help us achieve our ambitious goals.

Job description

This position is pivotal to the success of the GPP divisional short and long term ambitious goals. Taking responsibility and being accountable for; the development, implementation and ongoing review of the GPP annual planning and strategic process, embedding evidence based decision making, through the critical analysis of internal and external data.
The post holder will be GPP’s strategy, planning and analytics gatekeeper.

Major Responsibilities:

• International strategy implementation (all guidelines, tools, templates for use by national teams)
• Align international and national strategies and plans
• Guide/coach national teams on strategy and plans (beyond revenue)
• Advise on organizational development
• Conduct annual divisional and departmental reviews
• Produce quarterly strategy progress reports
• Produce dependencies assessments by department and for the GPP division
• Embed the strategic delivery plan
• Lead on International analytics and benchmarking
• Lead joint departmental planning
• Produce strategic vision and objectives summaries for GPP and broader IRC departments
• Leading on global benchmarking and providing actionable insights for decision-making
• Provide data insights to audiences of varying knowledge levels across IRC

Responsibilities in Partnership with the Business Operations Team

• Support annual financial reviews
• Support quarterly financial reviews
• Alignment financial parameters and needs with strategy
• Support the annual budget process and ensure 3 year outlook is aligned with strategic objectives
• Alignment of strategy, planning and budget with key stakeholders
• Support budget pack delivery

Reports to: Vice President, Strategic Growth

Direct Reports: Director of Analytics & The Strategic Growth Planning and Project Management Team

Candidate requirements


Required – Minimum of 3 year Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred - MBA or Masters in Marketing, Data Science, Strategic Operations or an applicable Commerce discipline

Work Experience:

Minimum 10 years International experience in fundraising, planning and strategy. The last 5 years being at a senior level, where organizational growth and impact can be clearly and directly attributed. Preferably leading a high performing team within a INGO or UN Agency

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Language SkillsEnglish essential

IT:  Fully conversant with Microsoft office suite, Salesforce and Power BI skills desirable

Working Environment:  This role may require working remotely full or part time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.
