We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified analyst who will work as an integral member of the CGIAR System Organization’s Funder and External Engagement Unit.  This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working to contribute to a world free of poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation. 

Job description

The Senior Associate works closely and collaboratively with the Director and Deputy Director of the Funder and External Engagement Unit to develop a thorough understanding of the funder and partner landscape, guided by the CGIAR System 3-year Business Plan and ensuring that CGIAR keeps abreast of best practices and developments on current trends, emerging issues, global policies and global opportunities in the funding environment.

The overall purpose of the role is to effectively and efficiently support the Funder and External Engagement’s Unit successful implementation of the CGIAR System 3-year Business Plan as appropriate and the System Management Office’s Funder and External Engagement work plan(s). 

In this respect, the position provides analytical information on funder and partner priorities, policies and requirements and data on global, regional and national trends, including country priorities and contributes to tracking and analysis of progress in relation to the Funder and External Engagement work plan.

Candidate requirements

The ideal candidate will be a skilled professional with in-depth knowledge of actors, trends and advocacy platforms in funding for global development and of global development issues in relation to resource mobilization and funder engagement. Minimum requirements include:

  • A university degree in marketing, economics or business administration or other relevant or related field and at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role(s) in the research and/or development sector. Previous working experience involving large international donor-funded research and/or development projects will be a plus.
  •  Demonstrated capacity to analyze data that can be utilized to provide strategic advice on resource mobilization
  • Gravitas in communication at all levels and excellent written and oral reporting skills in English
  • Ability to manage relationships and work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders, managing multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
