Background

We are looking for a fundraiser that has the ability to manage communication channels on a daily basis. The chosen one will have strong copywriting skills and a strategic mindset, bringing BIG’s fundraising materials to a new level. Are you able to engage your audiences with tailor made communication and do you feel comfortable developing materials in both real and digital worlds? Then you might be just the person BIG is looking for!

Join a team of 4 engaged fundraisers and help BIG to raise the funds that are necessary to reach the objective: finding a cure for breast cancer.

Job description

You will report to the International Director of Fundraising and be involved in a variety of activities including the following:

Fundraising/marketing

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities of the Development Unit, including gift processing and acknowledgment
  • Manage the fundraising database and the CRM tool
  • Segment the CRM database as needed, to tailor approach to specific donor groups
  • Conduct general research as needed, for example to identify potential donor opportunities, including with companies, foundations and trusts
  • Develop and coordinate activities and events with BIG member groups as needed
  • Support the planning and execution of BIG fundraising events

Communication with existing/potential donors

  • Develop fundraising focused materials to ensure members of Committee of Ambassadors, BIG staff and volunteers have the tools necessary to communicate the right messages about BIG
  • Write, develop and distribute monthly newsletter to BIG supporters and colleagues, using CRM database
  • Develop tailored communications as needed, to meet the needs of segmented donor groups : powerpoint, movies, brochures
  • Develop and manage digital channels, content for the BIG website/social media and make updates as required
  • Use, feed and monitor social networking according to approved policies to raise / monitor awareness about BIG
  • Analyse results of communication tools and campaigns

Candidate requirements

  • A bachelor degree in communications, marketing or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for establishing positive working relationships, networking and conveying an empathetic disposition towards prospects’ needs and interests
  • Ability to develop and write compelling content for BIG communications materials, newletters, website, social media and other platforms, as required
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with large groups and individuals
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures with minimal guidance
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism while coordinating a diverse variety of daily and special project deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to accurately and professionally process a high volume of correspondence, documents and other often sensitive and confidential information
  • Highly organised, with ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Fundamental understanding of office methods, procedures and practices
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, such as MS Office Professional
  • Ability to maintain confidential office records and files, screen incoming telephone calls and visitors
  • Excellent Dutch and English, good working knowledge of French or other languages
  • Adherence to the highest ethical standards
