Animals Asia, an international animal charity, is devoted to ending the barbaric practice of bear bile farming and improving the welfare of animals in China and Vietnam. We have a talented and passionate team both on the ground and in our fundraising teams.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Individual Giving to lead our strategic development of our marketing income stream globally. 

We currently have fundraising teams in six international markets: Hong Kong, UK, Germany, Australia, China and the US. Animals Asia has exciting plans for global expansion and is searching for a passionate fundraiser, with a love and compassion for animals, to join our international team.  As a credible expert in your field, you will play a pivotal role as part of Animals Asia’s senior management team.  We are looking for a leader with a collaborative approach, who can drive performance in key income areas globally.

The individual giving team is a global team that works across all our markets. The role will involve some remote management as team members are based across several markets. Alongside driving key income areas including monthly giving, legacy, direct mail and merchandise, the Head of Individual Giving will act in support of local fundraising efforts in markets across the US, Europe, Asia and Australia as well as drive supporter engagement initiatives.

Global in nature, supporting a diverse range fundraising activities and ensuring that new significant financial investments in individual giving work hard for Animals Asia – this is a both a challenging and exciting role!

This post provides strategic and tactical leadership across all areas of individual giving, driving best practice with the ultimate aim of maximising income for Animals Asia and a rewarding donor experience for our supporters.

There is investment budget for acquisition so the role is required to implement and deliver the new individual giving fundraising strategy to grow our unrestricted income.   

Key business areas include regular and one-off donor acquisition, retention and value maximization, middle donor, merchandise and legacy fundraising.  A key focus area will be identifying opportunities to integrate these channels and optimise results across offline and online channels.

The Individual Giving team is a central function which works to deliver direct marketing programmes across all our active markets.

Job description

  • Work with the IG team and country offices to develop and optimise Animal Asia’s Individual Giving programs.
  • Oversee the Head of Marketing on setting and delivering income and expenditure budgets, monitoring progress on an annual basis.
  • Work with the Global Fundraising Director to develop appropriate fundraising strategy within local market contexts and the provision of hands-on support.
  • Identify suitable programs for further investment to drive income growth.
  • Deliver effective management to a team of fundraising, design, production, merchandise, CRM and data staff ensuring excellent communication and service delivery to meet KPIs and deliver ROI.
  • Managing relationships with key external service providers and agencies, including negotiating contracts and ongoing relationship management.
  • Analyze donation patterns and data trends and use data to underpin decisions about fundraising strategies and tactics.
  • Feed into the evolution and enhancement of the CRM function including the development and implementation of data reporting and processes to support income growth.
  • Oversee the management of the supporter and donations process to deliver a quality donor journey to maximize the retention rate of individual donors.
  • Ensure continuous local testing, collate learning and apply to our programs to maximise results. 
  • Keep in touch with industry experts, track competitor activities and global developments in individual giving across the NGO sector.
  • Deputise for the Global Director of Fundraising as required.

 

Candidate requirements

  • At least 8 years proven experience of managing direct marketing activities, with at least 5 of those years in charities/NGOs with experience in individual giving.
  • Thorough understanding of regular giving acquisition and retention programmes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex, multi-million dollar programmes and work with senior level management.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with international fundraising experience across our key markets.
  • Proven experience of managing and developing CRM and data operations.
  • Good team management experience.
