Job description


This role sits in Fundraising Services, reporting to the Chief, Fundraising Services`. It will provide the strategic insight into, and support the delivery of, Fundraising, Mobilization and Engagement (FME) systems and platforms for UNICEF, including CRM. 

This role provides strategic and tactical leadership to National Committees and country offices across all areas of digital platforms and systems in pursuit of the organizations financial and non-financial goals.   The role will act as the strategic lead for the implementation of the next generation of UNICEF FME systems, and work with markets and HQ divisions to ensure that these systems are both fit for purpose, and optimized.

Primary responsibilities

Digital Platform Development

  • Design, specify and lead the implementation of the next generation of Fundraising, Mobilization and Engagement systems for UNICEF including CRM in response to business needs from markets.
  • Support PFP in the development and roll out of the global fundraising, mobilization and engagement platform.
  • Work with IT colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure systems are fit for purpose, and appropriately supported.
  • Collaborate with the wider organization to ensure the effective integration of these platforms with other UNICEF enterprise systems.
  • Work with and manage third party vendors to ensure the timely implementation of new systems.
  • Support UNICEF country offices in updating and implementing systems and platforms.
  • Ensure the ongoing development of systems to meet UNICEF’s evolving business need.
  • Provide the infrastructure within which cutting edge fundraising, mobilization and engagement campaigns can be launched and managed.

Strategic guidance

·  In close collaboration with Market Development and Regional Support Centres, provide strategic guidance and support to UNICEF National Committees and country offices on digital platforms and technologies.

·  Strategically facilitate the sharing of best practice via workshops, social media, and fundraising intranet and on an ad-hoc basis. Create & share global resources.

Business Intelligence

  • Support UNICEF’s work on digital attribution, dash boarding and benchmarking to ensure that the utilization of investment and reporting of results is accurate and strategic.
  • Track the global developments in digital fundraising and engagement platforms across the sector, and beyond, maintaining relationships with key contacts in the digital and fundraising industry.

Innovation and entrepreneurship

·         Identify opportunities to update/upgrade systems and platforms, and develop the business case for doing so.

·         Monitor and evaluate new technologies and software for potential tests and adoption by UNICEF.

·         Identify synergies between technologies and platforms to drive added value.

Candidate requirements



·         Must have at least eight (8) years’ experience in a related role (preferably global).

·         Project management (Prince 2 preferred).

·         SQL systems such as Salesforce.

·         Fundraising databases and CRM.

·         Front end transactional platforms.

·         Database marketing.

·         Non-Profit or commercial marketing.

  • Advanced University degree in any of the following: Information Technology, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Fundraising, Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, or other relevant educational qualification.
  • A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu or the advanced university degree.


  • Working language English. Knowledge of another UN language will be an asset.
