Compassion in World Farming

We are seeking a Senior Major Gifts specialist to join our successful and growing global Major Gifts team.

Do you have a proven track record in major gifts fundraising, boundless energy; world-class communication, negotiating and relationship-building skills?

Compassion in World Farming is a fast-growing and influential campaigning charity that is already transforming the lives of millions of farm animals around the world and seeking to change fundamentally the way our food is produced.

Annual income from international philanthropic partners has grown significantly over the past 3 years to more than £2.5m in 2016/17. To end factory farming we will need to drive ever higher levels of sustainable income from the global High Net Worth community to £5m or more by 2022. As our new Senior Development Manager, you will be responsible for soliciting significant gifts and driving the cultivation of relationships with global philanthropists. Reporting into our Global Head of Major Gifts, you will work in the dynamic and ambitious team responsible for driving the recent growth in this area for us. You will be positive, proactive, can-do, confident and innovative about identifying and securing gifts at the highest levels. Inquisitive, talented and intellectually astute, you will manage a pool of UK and overseas donors, ensuring a healthy pipeline of prospects.  Further, you will be personally committed and motivated to delivering ambitious income growth for our cause.

To succeed in this role, you will have a track record of soliciting significant at least five- figure gifts from major donors together with a demonstrable ability to establish, develop and manage relationships with High Net Worth Individuals. You will be entrepreneurial, creative, have gravitas, exceptional communication and negotiating skills and the ability to engage and influence senior volunteers and donors. As a growing part of this role will be establishing relations and securing gifts from High Net Worth Individuals in Europe and the USA, international experience and multiple languages would be an advantage.

Your track record will show that you are target-driven; able to identify, create and convert opportunities for significant gifts; grow income from new markets and develop compelling cases for support. Experience of working in a campaigning environment would be an advantage.

You will take a proactive approach to seeking and identifying opportunities for funding and act as the key contact for an expanding cohort of individual donors, offering excellent stewardship. Close liaison with our HQ and international mission-delivery colleagues as well as the wider fundraising team is essential to success in this role.

You will be ready to hit the ground running and determined to meet target knowing that your efforts are enabling Compassion to achieve far-reaching change in food production globally. Your work will help ensure that we can all eat quality, nourishing food from farming systems that promote animal well-being, respect people and protect our planet.
