Communications Manager - China Food Business

Compassion in World Farming

Compassion in World Farming is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, working to improve the lives of farm animals globally through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change in Europe, and positive engagement with the global food industry.

Our established Food Business programme operates in Europe, the US and China, and more globally through the supply chains of our corporate partners. The aim of the programme is to raise baseline standards for animals throughout the food industry, and in doing so we are recognised as the credible partner on farm animal welfare to major food retailers, food service companies and manufacturers.

The programme in China centres on two key pillars of work: raising awareness of farm animal welfare and raising standards for farm animals. In order to raise standards, we recognise medium to large scale producers for committing to a series of improvements that benefit the lives of farm animals, through 5 star awards, currently for pigs, laying hens and meat chickens. We work closely with a local partner ICCAW (International Cooperation Committee on Animal Welfare) to deliver the awards programme. We currently raise awareness on farm animal welfare via speaking slots at conferences, disseminating our resources, and through our partner organisations media events.

We now have an exciting opportunity to increase our communications capacity and develop our awareness raising programme. This will involve talking about animal welfare issues and solutions to a wide range of stakeholders from consumers to the people responsible for our food, via a wide range of outlets, such as our website and other internet platforms, social media, media articles, conferences and through our award winners marketing initiatives.
